Leaving A Legacy

There comes a time in life when you’re old and gray, and your legacy is all you have left. Death is coming fast and all you can think is, “how will I be remembered?” Well, luckily for you there’s a great new site that could help with that very problem, without forcing you to have children. It’s called FontStruct and it allows anyone to build their own working typeface, through the magic of the internet.

All you have to do is make an awesome typeface, name it after yourself, then watch as future generations of designers talk about how you’re a genius. It worked for Frederic W. Goudy, Claude Garamond, Harry “Helvetica” Helverson and it can work for you. So please, do your future-self a favor and check it out.

Zombie Standoff

Written by: Andre Vriesman & Andy Westbrock

A few months back my writing partner, Andre Vriesman and I had the pleasure of working on some radio spots for our client Redhook Ale. This is always welcomed with open arms since they usually let us do some pretty cool and fun stuff. Seriously, how many times do you get to work in zombies and “sawed of shotguns” into a script? Then just recently, I turned it into a simple little animated video so the digital world could enjoy it a little easier. So if you haven’t already, give “Zombie Standoff” a listen.

New Fangled SVC Posters

Yesterday the mailbox greeted me with a little surprise. A Surprise of giant posters and lots of them, from none other than the School of Visual Concepts from right here in Seattle, WA. Not only were they nice posters all around, but they were done by none other then the legendary letterpress shop, Hatch Show Print.

Now for those who don’t know about SVC, it’s one of the best creative resources in all of Seattle. It’s both an portfolio school and school filled with all other kinds of goodies like a complete letterpress studio and computer classes for anything that can take place on your monitor. Take a look for yourself here.

A big thanks goes out to everyone over at SVC for the great posters. Now I have to uphold my end of the deal and do my best to hand them out and spread the word.

Welcome
AndytownUSA-header1.gif

Welcome to Andytown, USA. This will be the new home for all my creative endeavors. Whether that be through advertising, illustration, photography or anything else that deserves to be seen, it will give them all a place to live.

As you can probably tell, it’s still currently a work in progress, but in reality this site will never be fully complete. Hopefully, I will never stop creating and thinking, making sure this place is constantly evolving, growing and becoming better. And this may be the first post, but it won’t be the last.

The roads are now open to Andytown. I hope you enjoy your visit.
